This is the filter most tanks end up with: it hangs on the back, it primes itself after a power cut, and the flow dial lets you turn it down for fish that do not like a current. It is rated for tanks of 20 to 30 gallons and moves 158 gallons an hour. The flow is adjustable, so the same filter suits a fast-water tank and a betta. It starts itself again after the power goes out, instead of running dry until you notice. It draws 6 to 8 watts, which is very little to run day and night. Do not replace all the filter media at once. Swap one part at a time and the bacteria in the rest keep the tank stable.
