Snakes and leopard geckos digest with heat on the belly, which comes from below, not from a lamp above. This mat sticks under the tank and warms the glass, and it is sold in two sizes so it matches the tank you already have. Two sizes are available, one for 10 to 20 gallon tanks and one for 30 to 40 gallon tanks. It warms the floor of the tank from underneath, which is how a belly-heat species actually uses warmth. It suits snakes, leopard geckos, frogs and tarantulas rather than a basking lizard. Run it through a thermostat. A mat left on mains power can reach temperatures that burn, and that is the single most common way a heat mat hurts an animal. Cover no more than a third of the floor with the mat. The animal has to be able to move off the heat, and it cannot do that if the whole base is warm.
