A hollow piece of cork does two jobs at once: the animal goes inside it and climbs over it. Cork also holds up in a humid enclosure far longer than most wood, which is why it is the standard. The tube measures 7 to 9 inches, which suits a small snake, a gecko or a tarantula. It works standing up as a climb or lying down as a tunnel, so one piece furnishes two levels. The bark is natural, with the texture an animal can actually grip. It suits bearded dragons, snakes and geckos. Give the animal a hide at the warm end and another at the cool end. One hide means choosing between the temperature it wants and feeling safe.
