Four black dog boots with rubber soles and reflective straps, made for winter walks in snow and slush. This is size 5, which measures 2.4 inches wide by 2.8 inches long. The maker lists size 5 for dogs of about 40 to 55 pounds, but the width of the paw matters more than the weight. To measure, stand your dog's paw on a sheet of paper, press down on the top so the paw spreads the way it does in a step, mark the widest points and measure between them. A long split opening at the top makes the boots easier to put on, and two adjustable reflective straps hold each boot in place. The rubber soles have a grip pattern for slippery ground. They are water-resistant, but water can get in at the seams, so they are not made for deep puddles or wading. Wash them by hand. Let your dog wear them indoors for a few minutes at a time before the first walk, and check the paws for rubbing after walks.
